Her
Strong and bold
Patient and polite
Beautiful and considerate
Passionate and authentic
She hazards all, who will the least allow
Strong and bold
Fomented and tortured
Scared and of their own protectors
Bloodshed daily from her
The merciless kind destroys her beauty
Her confidence is shattered
Her fair face is no more
Strong and bold
She now covers her neck every time
Her body bruised and pale
Her tears flowing down her painful and bruised
She now wears flat shoes
Puts on a lot of makeup to avoid attention
Strong and bold
No more strong but weak
Disparaged and murdered
She won't tell anyone because she's scared of the coffin
Scared that the monster might come back for more punching
Now the boldness is shattered
Who will help her?

Paint me
............
Pick a color
I dare you,
Paint me every day
Let my heart be filled with colors
Your colors
Let my mouth never be
As colorless as ash
Pick a color
Any color
I dare you
I dare you to paint me

SPOKEN WORD POETRY
INDEPENDENCE
The whites decided to gather together in a round table,
'Surely', they discussed, 'this Africans are never able',
'They claim they have a colony but nothing gets done,
Let us go to that continent and have their so-called leaders summoned'.
Off they went into that dark continent called 'Africa',
They came into our lands and set out to make a replica,
They imposed their constitutions on us totally unfair,
And decided to make out of blacks- English men.
They came to us with seemingly good intentions,
With our good hearts, we said 'of course you're welcome',
We will repair your roads, schools, and flaws,
When in truth, they set out to destroy us all.
Slowly and slowly realization dawned,
They made slaves out of us and our sons,
We tried to resist but it was too late,
The colonial masters had already sealed our fates.
We must stand up to what we believe in,
These white men cannot trample us under feet,
We too had our own discussion at a round table,
We will fight and show them we are able.
Years and years past and nothing happened,
That single fact cannot leave our spirits dampened,
We as the younger generations must continue what our fathers started,
To defeat them, we must first have them parted.
Scholars rose out of Africa and took up our freedom March,
They all stood atop that marble Arch,
Nelson Mandela, Herbert Macaulay, and the likes saw victory for us,
But we definitely must remain strong.
The white men saw that Africa was about to regroup,
But they brushed it all aside as foolproof,
'The Africans we know are never capable'
We subdued them, and that alone is proof.
Finally, we chased them out of our continent,
The fact that we're able became apparent,
Africa fought and strove for her lands,
The whites forcefully let go of our hands,
For together we're no longer dependent,
We have finally gained our independence.

FAKE LOVE
They said it was love
They called it a reality
They said we were the best
But I got no title to crown it
Was what we had real?
Were we really honest?
Yeah, I was!
But you were my enemy, you always gave me that use less energy
You had to pretend you love me
To your friends, I was your slave
To the world, I was your queen
But in the US, I was a bed, your punching bag, your slave, your trash.I was your front door mad
What we had was fake
What we had was not real
But I loved you, I was never unfair
You made me believe I could not find love, I had to surrender my soul
Yes!! you made me know the true meaning of what nobody ever told me before.

The One
I am the eyes of the blind
The ears of the deaf
The voice of the mute
I am your man
I know your eyes for they overwhelm
Your cheeks are lovely
You are beautiful and perfect
You are my Heaven
You are my paradise
This is the crucifixion
My heart is crucified
By your love
The way you dance
Is the same way my heart
Dance for your love ❤️
